Implementation

Reusable fish crates for Deutsche See – sustainable packaging design and product development by design for human nature in Hamburg.
Stackable reusable fish crates for Deutsche See – a sustainable logistics solution and product design by design for human nature in Hamburg.

How a piece of the ocean became the world's most successful fish crate.

The Deutsche See reusable fish crate saves 640 tons of polystyrene waste every year, completes three million round trips to customers, and, thanks to its lightweight and robust design, has a lifespan of over ten years. It serves as both a quality-assurance logistics tool and an elegant showroom for the brand.

Solution

We have modelled our design on the fish's natural habitat, crafting a transport crate that feels like a slice of the ocean itself. Its organic, wave-like shape offers superior stability and functionality compared to standard rigid designs, eliminates unnecessary weight, and makes handling much easier.
